I think there will be enough players chosing the Eventide, once the Torbah event is over.

Ok, so I've gone for a character who is a little... different.

I'd like to trade in my weapons and armour for some more specialised items if possible.

Robes with many, many pockets (Not granting any WP or speed bonus but instead granting the Pack Rat trait while worn).

Also I'd like to have my pockets filled out with various scientific apparatus and tricks like a telescope, glasses, paper, pen. Additionally some things like smoke powder (ashes), explosive powder (black powder), blinding dust (lime). Basically stuff which he can make look like magic but isn't. How would this be costed?

I've also invented three traits;
Alchemist - Can create potions, powders and poisons.
Sceptic - Far more resistant to the dark arts, and is less likely to believe lies (requires GM input).
Persuasive - Far more able to persuade others (where did Silver Tongue go?)

Further it says that renown is a measure not only of gold, but influence, fame, etc. I'd like to use at least a portion of it to actually reflect that in-game. He is after all a renowned and widely published scholar.

If this is all too much let me know, and I'll go for something more generic!

As most of you might have read on AKD already, I'm experiencing some technical problems. As such, and also because the AKD players will probably only join once the Torbah event is over, personal prologues (Ealdred) will have to go on pause for a couple of days.

For those without characters on AKD I suggest doing some casual rp to get to know your own character, and your fellows.

I'm willing to bet the Torbah event will be wrapped up with a "rocks fall, everyone dies" moment.

This is tricky and I wouldn't just accept this for every character, since advanced education would normally give a more sceptic outlook on live than a illiterate commoner who's main source of information coems from pilgrims and priests.

He is after all a renowned and widely published scholar. renowned and published scholar won't get you anywhere on the streets of a city full of the earlier mentioned illiterate commoners. I will, as GM, take it into account. Players can decide for themselves if they ever had interest in reading a book by your character. Since most are martial, however...well, the choice is theirs.

Regarding the renown- that was primarily aimed at the educated nobility rather than the peasants. Besides, Singal being a place where this type of heresy thrives (and as the headquarters of the Eventide) there might be slightly more chance of his fame being more widespread. I'm good with your interpretation though, it was more of a shot in the dark as this character has no use for weapons and armour, and therefore must employ a different arsenal.

No worries, as it happens there's a scenario planned that will suit his skills perfectly.

I'll hint that he who is known with the movie 'scaramouche', mind you not the original play, will find some similarities between the title character and the players.

I will be updating descriptions for Singal this week, and I hope that everyone had either thought out a character by now or feels confident to put it to the test.

If you have trouble crafting a fitting background or skillset for your character feel free to ask abundantly. The members that have already created their characters are all experienced Pendorians when it comes to its pre-unification lore, much more so than I am myself.

Edit: Also, PANIC, I just deleted the major portion of important information in the first chapter.

Nice to see another Eventide, I was beginning to fear we'd end up beating up Mordred's poor scholar with three knights for the entire duration of the role-play

@Aelos: The merchant character background still contains the reference to the Holmgang League, EPTC and Spice Cartel, all of which are post-unification. Perhaps one might replace them by a number of smaller, local guilds/leagues/companies/cartels/etc.

Not having to do with the story as such, just something that the Pcs might meet each other in the city.

Would be nice. You should be added to the Eventide group first, though.

Oh thought you were going to join the Lions Arcanum, i guess I'l join the Lions then; to equalize the large amount that will probably join the Eventide after AKD ends.

Well, there were 3 lions and only 1 eventide who is Mordred who isn't around all the time.

Exactly, just join the order you want to join and don't think about "balance". If the ratio will end up being 2 to 8, it will change little. (remember: mission are created for two to three PC's at once)

Think about this as urban warfare with every sly and dubious thing I can think of woven through, there's not going to be an all out battle and if you ride a horse in Singal (intending to use a lance) you must be eager to kill yourself.

Also, I'm not changing trait specs for any individual alone.

Sorry for not interacting with that Selwyn character. Ealdred most likely did not notice him and I saw no real opportunity to involve him in the conversation of the knights.
